7th Pay Commission: After increasing the monthly salary by 5 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA), the central government has given one more Diwali gift to the central government employees. The government has increased Transport Allowance (TA) of the central government too. In the increased TA, the central government employees' monthly salary will go up by Rs 810 to Rs 4,320. This TA will automatically get added into the monthly salary of the central government employees as TA hike and DA hike are inter-connected.

For information to the readers, post-7th Pay Commission's recommendations, the central government is giving TA on the basis of the category of the city a government employee is posted. Minimum TA for urban cities under 7th CPC is Rs 1350 while maximum TA under the Seventh Pay Commission is Rs 7,200. Similarly, in smaller cities, TA approved under the 7th Pay Commission ranges from Rs 900 to Rs 3,600 per month.

TA Calculation

In tier-1 cities, DA has gone up by 5 per cent. Hence, the TA will also go up by 5 per cent means the approved TA of Rs 7200 in tier-1 cities is Rs 360. So, in a year, a government employee's salary has gone up by Rs 4,320 due to the rise in TA after the 5 per cent DA announcement. Similarly, other cities TA will go up after the rise in DA of the central government employees.
