The case

The high court has ordered an enquiry into account of a private school that argued lack of funds as the reason for not paying salary and allowances to teachers as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, according to a report by Hindi daily Hindustan.

The high court order came in response to a plea by teachers of the school. The school had claimed that it was facing financial troubles continuously since 2016 and it didn't have sufficient money to paying salary to employees and other expenses. The high court took the matter seriously and ordered an independent audit of the account books of the school. The court has also appointed a Chartered Accountant for the independent inquiry. The CA will audit the accounts of the school since 2016 and submit the report to the court in three weeks, as per the HC order.

The court has also asked the Delhi government's Directorate of Education to appoint an official who will help the CA in the audit process.

In the plea, 220 teachers and staff of the school had demanded salary and allowance as per the 7th Pay Commission. They had also demanded arrears since 2016. The plea maintained that the Delhi Directorate of Education had ordered private schools to implement salary as per the 7th pay commission recommendations but the said school didn't adhere to the order.

In 2017, Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued guidelines for implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations in private unaided schools in the national capital.
