Kamlesh Chandra Committee and GDS
Approval was granted to recommendations of the Kamlesh Chandra Committee on Limited Transfer Facility for all categories of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) by government earlier. This move allowed around 2.6 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks under the Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications to request voluntary transfer under certain circumstances. GDS can now avail 7th Pay Commission benefits as per the Kamlesh Chandra Committee recommendations.
So, an applicant who is 10th pass and knows more than one regional language can apply in more than one state and avail the transfer benefits as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
Waiting for announcement
Elsewhere in the administrative set up, Central government employees have been waiting a long time for a revision in the fitment factor under the 7th Pay Commission. However, the government does not seem keen to take up the demand of revising the fitment factor from 2.57 times to 3 or more even almost a year after it was raised by employees' unions. However, the government has handed out several benefits under 7th Pay Commission to its employees.
