7th Pay Commission Diwali bonus: There is a good news for government employees of Madhya Pradesh. The state government has decided to give them a gift ahead of Diwali. Ahead of festive season, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to clear arrears of the state government employees under 7th Pay Commission.

Finance department of the state government has released a notification ordering clearance of arrears in this regard. The decision is likely to benefit lakhs of employees of the state government.

Lakhs of permanent, contractual, and daily wage earners of the state government will be provided benefit under advance festival scheme. 

These employees will be given advance bonus between November 2020 to March 2021. However, the employees whose salary is Rs 40,000 or less will only be able to avail benefit of this bonus. 

Festival advance and clearance of arrears will cost state exchequer an extra expenditure of Rs 400 crore. Madhya Pradesh government has ordered to clear 25% amount of the third and last installment of arrears of the state government employees covered under 7th Pay Commission in November itself. To ensure that the employees get the benefit of this scheme before Diwali, the state government has directed the departments concerned to ensure its implementation in letter and spirit.

Earlier Chouhan had made this announcement ahead of by-elections in MP, saying the government will give 25% of arrears before Diwali and will also try to give remaining arrears by the end of current financial year.
