7th Pay Commission latest news today: Amid unlock activities speeding up across the nation, around 52 lakh central government employees and 58 lakh central government pensioners are awaiting double dose of good news on the Dearness Allowance (DA) front. According to the media reports, the first and foremost is the announcement of the DA due from January-June 2021 and other is the 4 per cent DA restoration that was announced earlier for July to December 2020 period. The media reports further claim that the DA restoration would be in accordance with the 7th CPC formula and it can be done in January 2021. However, the Narendra Modi government is yet to make any official announcement in this regard.
Last year in the month of March, the central government had approved to release an additional instalment of DA to the Central Government employees and DR (Dearness Relief) to the retired pensioners with effect from 1st January 2020. This was expected to impact the central government exchequer by nearly Rs 12,510 crore per annum (DA) and about Rs 14,595 crore (DR) in FY 2020-21 (for a period of 14 months from January, 2020 to February, 2021).

DA relief is given to the central government employees keeping inflation in mind. It is announced by the central government twice in a year. First announcement is done for the period of January to June while the second announcement is done for July to December period. So, the central government employees are awaiting the DA announcement for January to June period and at the same time they are awaiting 4 per cent DA restoration announced for July to December 2020 period.
Recently, the Narendra Modi Government has declared to extend 'Disability Compensation' to all concerned Central Government employees that is expected to provide a huge relief to young central armed police force (CAPF) personnel of CRPF, BSF, CISF, etc, since disability in performance of duties is generally reported in their case. The ‘Disability Compensation’ will be extended to all serving employees, if they get disabled in the line of duty while performing their service and are retained in service in spite of such disablement.
