7th pay commission latest news: Even as the central government employees keep on waiting, pay hike news have come from entirely unexpected quarters. The 11 million strong central government employees and pensioners have been demanding pay hike over and above the 7th pay commission recommendations. They are getting the pay hike as per the fitment factor of 2.57 times which has also set the minimum salary at Rs 18,000. However, the employees have been asking for a pay hike as per the fitment factor of 3.68 times which will increase the minimum salary to Rs 26,000. They are yet to get their demands fulfilled.
However, elsewhere, in the home state of PM Narendra Modi, Gujarat, where he was CM multiple times, the MLAs have given themselves a massive pay hike. The MLAs from all parties showed rare unanimity and swiftness to give themselves a pay hike of 65 per cent. The MLAs were getting Rs 70,727 per month. Now they will be getting Rs 1,16,316, marking an increment of Rs 45,589 or 64.45 per cent, reported DNA.
Not only this, the chief minister, his cabinet, Assembly speaker, Deputy Speaker, Whip, and the Opposition leader have got a pay hike of 52.87 per cent to Rs 1,32,395 from earlier Rs 86,604 per month.
The revised salary will come into effect retrospectively from December 22, 2017. It will cost the exchequer Rs 10 crore a year.
While this may be so, on the other hand, in another state, which is Rajasthan, the government has recently hiked DA of the state government employees. This will benefit employees of panchayat and Zila Parishad as well as pensioners. Prior to this, the Madhya Pradesh government had hiked its employees pay. The employees will also be getting the arrears for 32 months as the hike will be effective from January 1, 2016.

States like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are going to polls later this year. The Lok Sabha polls will be held next year. It is expected that the Modi government will take a favourable decision. At least the central government employees are hoping so.
