7th pay commission: Employees in this state get Diwali gift; but some staffers will not get hiked dearness allowance
7th Pay Commission: Along with several other states, Tamil Nadu government has also decided to increase the salary of its employees by enhancing dearness allowance (DA) by 5 per cent.
7th Pay Commission: Along with several other states, Tamil Nadu government has also decided to increase the salary of its employees by enhancing dearness allowance (DA) by 5 per cent. However, not every employee will get hiked dearness allowance. In fact, some will be left out. Some sections will be left out. Other state employees will now get increased DA of 17 per cent. This dearness allowance hike will be applicable from July 1, 2019. The Tamil Nadu state employees will also get dearness allowance arrears from July to September.
The 7th Pay Commission based dearness allowance hike order was issued by the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday, October 17. On behalf of the state government, Principal Secretary S Krishnan stated that the arrears for dearness allowance will be released immediately, and will be credited to the salary account of employees immediately through ECS.
According to S Krishnan, only full time employees are entitled to get the DA, and this benefit will not be given to part time staff.
As per the state government order, the enhanced DA will also be given to teaching staff, besides non-teaching staff of Educational Institutes will also get this benefit. This will also include the employees of AICTE Institute, Physical Education Director, Librarian, Government-aided Polytechnic, Special Diploma Institution, Anganwadi Workers, and Panchayati Raj Department.
Other states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand have already announced monetary benefits for their state employees. In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government announced to give bonus of Rs 7000 to non-gazetted group C and group D employees, besides ensuring that amount is transferred to the employees' salary account along with DA ahead of Diwali.

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has also stated that the state government will give Diwali and Chhath Puja gifts to state government employees. He added that the employees will get 5 per cent additional Dearness Allowance along with the salary for the month of October.
