Those who are thinking that there will be some extension in the ITR deadline should note that the Income Tax Department has made it clear that taxpayers better file their ITR within the given deadline. The Income Tax Department reminded the earning individuals in this regard from its official twitter handle reminding 'last chance' wordings.
Asking people to file ITR by 31st March 2021 for AY 2020-21 the Income Tax Department tweeted, "Employers, please take note. If any of your employees has not filed an Income Tax Return(ITR) for AY 2020-21 yet, this is the last chance to do so! We request you to please remind your employees. Last date to file ITR for AY 2020-21 is March 31st, 2021."

It should be noted that those earning individuals who think they have filed their audit report and they need not to file ITR needs to rethink as they also need to file ITR. The Income Tax Department has made it clear tweeting, "If you have filed your audit report but not filed your Income Tax Return(ITR) yet, please do so at the earliest. Last date to file ITR for AY 2020-21 is March 31st, 2021."

Making earing individuals aware about the ITR filing, the Income Tax Department tweeted, "If tax has been deducted on your income OR your income exceeds basic exemption limit; you may need to file your Income Tax Return(ITR). File your ITR for AY 2020-21 on/before March 31st, 2021!"
