Income Tax Refund 2021: CBDT issues refund of over Rs 67, 000 cr till August 30; follow 4 EASY steps to check ITR refund status
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued refunds of over Rs. 67,401 crore to more than 23.99 lakh taxpayers between April 1, 2021 to August 30, 2021, said Income Tax India on Saturday.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued refunds of over Rs. 67,401 crore to more than 23.99 lakh taxpayers between April 1, 2021 to August 30, 2021, said Income Tax India on Saturday. As per Income Tax department, the CBDT issued Income tax refunds of Rs 16,373 crore have been issued in 22,61,918 cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs 51,029 crore have been issued in 1,37,327 cases. The information was shared by the IT department through a post on twitter.

Earlier on August 29, giving a big relief to taxpayers, the Finance Ministry on Sunday extended the deadlines for e-filing of various electronic forms that come under the Income-Tax Act, 1961 after taxpayers reported difficulties in filing these forms online.
"On consideration of difficulties reported by taxpayers & other stakeholders in electronic filing of certain Forms under the IT Act,1961, CBDT has further extended the due dates for electronic filing of such Forms. CBDT Circular No.16/2021 dated 29.08.2021 issued," Income Tax India had tweeted.
Meanwhile, those who have filed their income tax return and have not got their money can check their ITR refund status by following certain steps
How to check Income Tax refund status?
Step 1: Go to the income tax e-filing portal
Step 2: Here, enter user ID, password and date of birth/date of incorporation
Step 3: Now, click on the 'My Account' tab
Step 4: Select the 'Refund/Demand Status' option
As soon as you click on this option, your returns status, including assessment year, payment method, etc, will be displayed on your screen
