Filing ITRs via mobile: There is an important piece of information for the income taxpayers. The income taxpayers will be able to file their income tax returns (ITR) via mobile also.

Yesterday, the Income Tax Department has tweeted from its official Twitter handle that the income tax e-filing portal 2.0 will also have an all-new mobile app. According to a report by PTI, the Income Tax Department has said that it will be easy to use the new portal through mobile phones and information regarding pre-filed income tax details, ITR Form and Saral Income Tax facilities will be made available on the portal.

 

The IT Department has through a tweet that the new e-filing portal will be launched on June 7, 2021. The new e-filing portal, that is, e-filing portal 2.0 will be available at incometax.gov.in. 

The IT Department has further informed that the e-filing services will not be available from June 1, 2021, till June 6, 2021, and so the taxpayers were requested to avail the e-filing services through the old e-filling portal by May 31, 2021. 

The benefits of the new e-filing portal 2.0 are also mentioned on the official website of the Income Tax Department. They are as follows: 

1) The new taxpayer friendly portal will be integrated with immediate processing of ITRs and will be able to issue quick refunds to the taxpayers

2) The taxpayers must note that all interactions and uploads or pending actions will be displayed on a single dashboard for follow-up action by taxpayer

3) Free of cost ITR preparation software available online and offline with interactive questions to help the taxpayers fill ITR even without any tax knowledge, with prefilling, for minimizing data entry effort

4) New call center for taxpayer assistance for immediate answers to taxpayer queries with FAQs, tutorials, videos and chatbot/live agent

The taxpayers must note that all key portal functions on desktop will be available on Mobile App which will be enabled subsequently for full anytime access on mobile network. 

Following the launch of the new e-filing portal 2.0 on June 7, 2021, the taxpayers will be able to avail the services at incometax.gov.in.
