Governments GST collection rises 11% to Rs 1.65 lakh crore in July
Out of Rs 1,65,105 crore, CGST is Rs29,773 crore, SGST is Rs37,623 crore, while IGST is Rs 85,930 crore (including Rs 41,239 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 11,779 crore (including Rs 840 crore collected on import of goods), the ministry said in a statement.
The government collected Rs 1,65,105 crore from Goods and Services Tax (GST) in July 2023, an 11 per cent year-on-year growth, according to figures released by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
Out of Rs 1,65,105 crore, CGST stood at Rs 29,773 crore, SGST at Rs 37,623 crore and IGST at Rs 85,930 crore (including Rs 41,239 crore collected on import of goods), and cess at Rs 11,779 crore (including Rs 840 crore collected on import of goods), the ministry said in a statement.
This is also the fifth time when monthly GST collection crossed the mark of Rs 1.60 lakh crore since its inception.
The ministry said that it had settled Rs 39,785 crore to CGST and Rs 33,188 crore to SGST from IGST.
The total revenue of the Centre and states in July 2023 after regular settlement is Rs 69,558 crore for CGST and Rs 70,811 crore for SGST, the release said.
The revenues for the month of July 2023 are 11 per cent higher than GST revenues in the same month last year.
During the month, the revenues from domestic transactions (including import of services) were 15 per cent higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year, the release said.
For the fifth time, the gross GST collection has crossed the Rs. 1.60 lakh crore mark.
Maharashtra tops the chart
Maharashtra collected the maximum GST revenue in July 2023 at Rs 26,064 crore.
While Karnataka was second at Rs 11,505 crore, Tamil Nadu was third at Rs 10,022 crore.
Gujarat was close behind in the fourth spot with a GST revenue collection of Rs 9,787 crore, while Uttar Pradesh stood fifth with Rs 8,802 crore GST revenue.
