Employees’ Provident Fund or EPF is a savings scheme introduced by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the supervision of the Government of India. An EPFO account is opened for salaried employees by the companies or business organisations for which they work.
After the account is opened, the employee and the company both pay an equal amount to savings that can be used upon the employee’s retirement or when changing jobs. Currently, the rate of interest on EPF contributions is 8.15 per cent
