In a recent tweet from its official Twitter handle, EPFO said, "File your e-nomination today to get Provident Fund (PF), Pension (EPS) and Insurance (EDLI) benefit online."
Now, the EPFO members must be wondering about the process of filing e-nomination. It has to be noted that an earlier tweet from the official Twitter handle of EPFO said, "File e-Nomination online through your UAN login."
The EPFO members must note that the purpose of the e-nomination is the online payment of PF, Pension and Insurance (EDLI) up to Rs 7 lakh to the eligible family members.
The EPFO members must note that the need for updation of the nomination is as per the need. However, the updation of the nomination is necessary after the marriage. Furthermore, self-declaration is sufficient for the e-nomination, there is no need for documentation and approval from the employer.
Now, for filing e-nomination one has to use the UAN login. The UAN is a 12-digit number allotted to each subscriber by linking it to the member's currently active PF account number. From December 2016, any new member has to be allotted a UAN number linked to the establishment's code number.
The EPFO members must note that the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme 1976 (EDLI Scheme) is an insurance scheme that provides life insurance benefits to all employees who are members of the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952 or of PF Schemes exempted under Section 17 of the EPF & MP Act, 1952. The EDLI Scheme is supported by a nominal contribution by the employers (@0.5 per cent of monthly wages, up to the maximum wage limit of Rs 15,000).
No contribution is payable by the employees for availing insurance cover under this Scheme. The benefits payable under EDLI Scheme have been enhanced by the Central Government.
As per the EPFO website, the EPFO members with authenticated Aadhaar and Bank details seeded against their UAN can now submit their PF withdrawal/ settlement/ transfer claims online.
The members must note that one mobile number can be used for one registration only. A member can view the passbooks of the EPF accounts which has been tagged with UAN. It must be noted that the facility of passbook is not available for members of establishments having exemption under the EPF Scheme 1952.
In case of any query or further details, the EPFO members can login to the official website of EPFO at epfindia.gov.in.
