EPF Balance Check Online: The Employees' Provident Fund (EPFO) has credited interest in the EPF accounts for FY2019-20. The Government of India has credited 8.5 per cent EPF interest in various accounts. So, it becomes important for each and every EPF account holder to know one's EPF account balance. One can do this online by logging in at the official website of the EPFO — epfindia.gov.in. However, there are three other ways too to check one's EPF account balance.

EPF balance check at EPFO portal

To view your Provident Fund (PF) passbook on the EPFO portal — epfindia.gov.in — one needs to have your EPF account tagged with one's Universal Account Number (UAN). One can download or print one's EPF passbook from the website following these steps:

1] Log in at EPFO portal — epfindia.gov.in;
2] Click at 'For Employees' under 'Our Services';
3] Click at 'Member Passbook' under 'Services';
4] It will redirect you at passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp and display your EPF account balance.

EPF balance check through Umang App

EPF account holders can view their PF balance on mobile phones with the help of the Umang app. Umang app was launched by the government of India to provide access to various government services in a single place. One can view one's EPF Passbook, raise a claim or track EPF or PF Claim using this app. To get started, the EPF account holder needs to complete a one-time registration using its phone number.

EPF balance check via SMS

If an EPF account holder's UAN is registered with the EPFO, it can get the details of its PF balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899. For this, one needs to send this message: EPFOHO UAN ENG. 'ENG' is the first three characters of the preferred language. So, if one wants to receive the message in Marathi, then one will have to type in EPFOHO UAN MAR.

The facility is available in 10 languages - English (default), Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali. The SMS must be sent from the registered mobile number of UAN.

EPF balance check through missed call

If one's EPF account is registered on the UAN portal, giving a missed call on 011-22901406 from one's registered mobile number will get him or her the details of PF account latest contribution and balance. Do make sure one's UAN is seeded with one's bank account number, Aadhaar card number and PAN. This facility is free from any charges.
