HDFC Bank UPI services to be unavailable for 240 minutes on this date; check out timings, other key details
HDFC Bank will temporarily suspend its UPI services on July 13 while it transitions from its current core banking system (CBS) to a newly engineered platform. The country's largest private sector bank aims to enhance performance, capacity, and reliability through this upgrade.
HDFC Bank has said that some of its services are set to be halted temporarily on July 13 as the private sector lender migrates from its core banking system (CBS) to a newly engineered platform. HDFC Bank - the country's largest lender by market capitalisation (mcap) - has said that the upgrade is aimed at improving its performance, capacity and reliability.
The lender plans to enhance the experience for its growing customer base of 9.3 crore individuals and businesses across the country, it said in a press release.
"With this upgrade, HDFC Bank will be one of the largest banks of its size and banking volume in the country to host its Core Banking System on a new-gen platform," it added.

The upgrade will take place during 13.5 hours on July 13, according to the bank:
- Start: 3:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024

Which services will be impacted and for how long?
According to HDFC Bank, the system upgrade will impact its UPI services, which will be unavailable for a total of 240 minutes in two batches on that day: from 3 am to 3:45 am and from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm.

Shop & Pay: Debit Cards, Credit Cards and UPI | At stores: Customers can continue to use their HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted amount) or credit card on swipe machines. |
Online: Customers can make seamless online purchases with their HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted amount) & credit card. | |

In order to minimise the disruption, HDFC Bank has advised its customers to withdraw sufficient funds before 7:30 pm on Friday, July 12.
It has also suggested that its customers plan all their fund transfers in advance.
