Bank branches in several parts of the country will remain closed for up to five days on Christmas in line with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) calendar of holidays, including the week offs.
25 December, i.e., Christmas, will fall on Monday. Prior to this, December 23 is a fourth Saturday, and December 24 is a Sunday; therefore, it will be a consecutive three-day holiday for a few states. Along with this, Christmas celebrations continue in Kohima on December 26 and December 27, due to which, banks in these states will remain closed for five days.
Where will the banks be closed for 4 and 5 days?
Christmas holidays are scheduled for December 25–27 in Kohima. The Christmas holidays will fall from December 25 to December 26 in Aizawl and Shillong.
One needs to note that these holidays will not be uniformly applied across the country and shall vary from region to region. While some holidays will be observed nationwide as public holidays, others will be treated as local holidays.
