Bank Holidays in December 2023, Bank Holidays in December 2023 in India: In December, bank branches in several parts of the country will remain closed for an additional 11 days on account of certain holidays in line with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) calendar of holidays. Most banks will remain closed for a total of 18 days in December, including the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays.

However, these holidays will not be uniformly applied across the country and shall vary from region to region as some holidays will be observed nationwide as public holidays while others will be treated as local holidays.

Types of bank holidays

The RBI categorises bank holidays into three categories:  

• Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act
• Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act & Real time gross settlement holidays.  
• Banks’ closing of accounts
