Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge termed it as another "note bandi" to trouble the people while lambasting the Central government, and hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the RBI's announcement on the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation.

Nripendra Misra, former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has said that PM had maintained since the beginning that the Rs 2000 currency notes were a temporary fix for an extraordinary situation (note crunch after demonitisation).
"The Rs 2000 note is not a feasible mode of transaction for the poor, and keeping it in circulation for a longer time period would've benefitted black-marketeers. For these reasons, the decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 currency note is a move for the betterment of the public and the nation," he told Zee News.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mentions in its circular that for redressal of grievance in case of deficiency of service, the complainant / aggrieved customer may first approach the concerned bank. If the bank does not respond within a period of 30 days after lodging of the complaint or if the complainant is not satisfied with the response/resolution given by the bank, then the complainant can lodge the complaint under the Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (RB-IOS), 2021 at the Complaint Management System portal of RBI (cms.rbi.org.in).
