Stocks to watch on Monday, July 22: At around 8:18 am, GIFT Nifty futures traded lower by 0.5 per cent or 121.6 points at 24,407.5, indicating a negative opening on the D-Street. Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled on Friday as investors preferred to book profits after four days of record-breaking rallies and weak trends from global markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex hit its new all-time high of 81,587.76 in the initial trade but failed to carry forward the winning momentum and tanked 738.81 points or 0.91 per cent to settle below the 81,000 mark at 80,604.65. The NSE Nifty tumbled 269.95 points or 1.09 per cent and ended at 24,530.90 after hitting its fresh record peak of 24,854.80 during the opening bell. The country's largest private sector lender - on Saturday reported a standalone net profit of Rs 16,174.8 crore for the April-June period, marking a growth of 35.3 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago.
Its net interest income (NII) - or the difference between the interest earned and the interest paid - grew 26.4 per cent on a year-on-year basis, to Rs 29,837.1 crore, according to a regulatory filing. The bank's board also gave a nod to initiate the process of listing HDBFS through a potential IPO.
