Amid a broad-based sell-off Indian equities in a highly volatile session ended sharply lower. Nifty at the close was dragged down to below 24,500 levels, down over 1 per cent. Broader markets, however, experience an even sharper decline, with Nifty Smallcap 100 index settling nearly 4 per cent lower.
