Share Market News August 21:At around 8:16 am, GIFT Nifty futures traded lower by 0.05 per cent or 12.25 points at 24,699, indicating a tepid opening on the D-Street. Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex climbed up half a per cent on Tuesday, mirroring gains across global markets amid hopes of more frequent and deeper reductions in key interest rates than anticipated earlier. The Sensex gained 378.2 points to end at 80,802.9 and the Nifty50 added 126.2 points to settle at 24,698.9, boosted by strong buying interest in financial, IT and energy shares, though selling pressure in FMCG stocks limited the upside.
