Led by gains in the pharma and FMCG stocks, benchmark indices recovered sharply from the day's low.
Indian equities after steep losses in early trade showed recovery towards the close. The 30-share benchmark Sensex ended with a cut of 0.53 per cent or 426.87b points at 79,924.77, while the Nifty index fell 0.45 per cent and ended at 24,324.45. Meanwhile, broader indices recouped most of the intraday losses, with Nifty Midcap 100 ending with minor gains of 0.3 per cent.

Shares of the auto major ended 7 per cent lower at Rs 2,730 even as the company clarified that the price cut on certain XUV700 variants and the recent policy on hybrid vehicles of the UP government have no linkage
Asian Paints
Shares of the company ended higher by over 3 per cent at Rs 995.4 as the company reportedly increased prices across its entire portfolio by up to 1 per cent.
TCS
TCS shares ended with a cut of nearly 2 per cent at Rs 3,917.9 ahead of its Q1 earnings due to be released tomorrow ended
Zydus Life
Shares of the company ended over 1 per cent higher at Rs 1,180.4 as the USFDA approved the company's heart failure drug and gave its consent to market Sacubitril and Valsartan tablets.
Emcure Pharma
After decent listing gains, shares of the pharma major ended over higher at Rs 1,359.15, gaining 35 per cent at the close on the debut day.
Greaves Cotton
Shares of the company ended marginally higher by 0.5 per cent at Rs 171.45 as the company's arm prtnered with ACKO to encouage EV buying in the country.
RVNL
RVNL shares ended with gains of over 12 per cent at Rs 610.55 +67.40 (+12.41%) after the company won a contract worth Rs 187 crore from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation.
