Stocks to watch: The government on Wednesday approved the FDI proposal for the investment of up to Rs 9,589 crore in Suven Pharmaceuticals Limited by Berhyanda Limited of Cyprus. IRCTC on Wednesday signed an MOU with Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSTRC) to enable MSRTCs online bus booking services via IRCTCs bus booking portal/website, accessible at https://www.bus.irctc.co.in.
Stocks to watch: The domestic equity market on Wednesday, September 13, edged higher after a lacklustre start. The NSE Nifty closed above the 20,000 mark for the first time, and both benchmark indices hovered around record highs. Except for IT and auto, all the other stocks saw buying.
At close, the S&P BSE Sensex stood at 67,466.99, up 245.86 points, or 0.37 per cent and the Nifty ended at 20,070, up 76.8 points, or 0.38 per cent. Among the Nifty 50 stocks, 31 advanced and 19 declined.
At around 8:12 am on Thursday, September 14, the GIFT Nifty futures traded 55.05 points, or 0.27 per cent, higher at 20,184, suggesting a positive start to the market.

Suven Pharmaceuticals
The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the Foreign Direct Investment proposal for the investment of up to Rs 9,589 crore in Suven Pharmaceuticals Limited by Berhyanda Limited of Cyprus on Wednesday.
In a statement, the government said that the approval was for the acquisition of up to 76.1 per cent of the equity shares of Suven Pharmaceuticals.
It is an Indian pharmaceutical company listed on the exchanges.
JK Tyres
The tyremaker said on Wednesday that CARE Ratings Ltd. (CARE) had upgraded its long-term issuer rating to CARE A+ from 'CARE A'.
"As per the rating rationale released by CARE, the revision in the rating considers the improved operational and financial performance of the company in FY23 as characterised by increasing scale of operations, better-working capital management, and improved leverage indicators, which is expected to sustain going forward as well," the company said in its BSE filing on Wednesday.
Auto Stocks
The government will not make six airbags mandatory for cars, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday.
"We don't want to make the six-airbag rule for cars mandatory," Gadkari said at the ACMA annual session. Last year, on September 29, the government deferred the proposal's implementation to make six airbags mandatory in passenger cars by one year to October 1, 2023.
The government had earlier planned to make six airbags mandatory in eight-seater vehicles for enhanced occupant safety from October 1, 2022.
After the announcement, carmaker stocks such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra are expected to be in focus on Thursday.
IRCTC
IRCTC on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSTRC) to enable MSRTC's online bus booking services via IRCTC's bus booking portal/website, accessible at https://www.bus.irctc.co.in.
As per the MoU, MSRTC will provide APIs of its online bus ticketing system to IRCTC, which in turn will integrate MSRTC bus ticketing APIs on its website, www.bus.irctc.co.in and mobile apps.
PFC
State-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has received shareholders' approval to issue bonus shares by capitalising up to Rs 660.02 crore in its securities premium account.
"All business items proposed for the 37th AGM of the company have been approved with the requisite majority," the company said in a BSE filing.
The PFC had proposed to issue bonus shares by capitalising a securities premium account to the extent that each shareholder is entitled to a new equity share of Rs 10 each for every four equity shares of Rs 10 each.
Paper stocks
More than 100 paper mills are expected to come under the energy efficiency scheme Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) by next year as players are adopting technology to reduce their energy footprint, an industry body said on Wednesday.
The paper industry has reduced its specific energy consumption by 20 per cent in the last five years, the Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA) said in a statement.
Integrated paper mills in India are generating over 40 per cent of their power consumption by utilising the biomass from the pulping process, the IPMA said.
Paper stocks such as JK Paper, West Coast Paper, and Seshasayee Paper are expected to garner attention in early trading hours on Thursday.
Tata Steel
The company may close a deal with the United Kingdom government for Port Talbot Future worth Rs 5,180 crore.

Bajaj Electricals Ltd would demerge its power transmission and distribution (T&D) business into a separate company in a move to create a sector-focused firm and streamline the management structure. This demerger will lead to changes in indices. BSE 500 may drop Bajaj Electricals and add Craftsman Automation.

Global brokerage Jefferies has maintained a 'buy' call on the stock and has raised the target from Rs 775 apiece to Rs 825 apiece.

Brokerage firm Investec has initiated a 'hold' on IDFC First Bank for a target price of Rs 103 apiece.
Fusion Micro Finance
Investec has also initiated a 'buy' on Fusion Micro Finance for a target price of Rs 780 apiece.
InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo)
As per reports, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has permitted IndiGo to lease 11 A320 aircraft on a wet lease.
UBS has given a 'buy' on the stock for the target price of Rs 3,300 apiece.
Avenue Supermarts
HSBC upgraded its rating to 'buy' and maintained the target price at Rs 4,600 apiece.
