Stocks to watch: Avlon Technologies, Quick Heal, Jubilant Food, oil-linked stocks, Vedanta

The Nifty50 is likely to see a negative start on April 18 as indicated by SGX Nifty. At 08:10 am, the Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) traded 0.19 per cent lower at 17,730 levels. On the global front, China's gross domestic product grew 4.5 per cent year-on-year in the first three months of the year, faster than the 2.9 per cent in the previous quarter and beating analyst forecasts for a 4 per cent expansion, Reuters reported. 

In the equity market, Asia's shares pared losses in the early trade as China's economy recorded a stronger-than-expected recovery. In the overnight trade, US stocks ended higher. The Dow Jones added 0.3 per cent while S&P and Nasdaq gained 0.33 per cent and 0.28 per cent, respectively. Back home, the S&P BSE Sensex on April 17 recovered from the day's low to settle at 59,910.75, down 520 points or 0.86 per cent while the Nifty shut shop at 17,706.85, down 121.15 points, or 0.68 per cent.

Avlon Technologies: Shares of the company are slated to list on the bourses today. Avalon Tech is an electronics manufacturing services firm focused on high-value precision engineered products. The Avalon Tech IPO was open for subscription from April 3 to April 6 with a price band of Rs Rs 415-436 apiece in multiples of 34 — translating to Rs 14,110-14,824 per lot. Overall, the issue was subscribed 2.3 times.

Earnings today: Eight companies including Tata Coffee, Crisil Ratings, and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, are scheduled to announce their March quarter earnings later in the day.

Poonawalla Fincorp: Mayank Poddar and Sanjay Chamria sold 290 crore shares at Rs 290/share to ABSL Umbrella Ucits Fund, Aditya Birla Sun, Plutus Wealth, and others.

Jubilant Foodworks: Coca-Cola India has acquired a 15 per cent equity stake in Hashtag Loyalty, the associate company of Jubilant Foodworks, for Rs 104.68 crore. Hashtag Loyalty has entered into a Securities Subscription Agreement with Coca-Cola India. Accordingly, Jubilant's stake in Hashtag has reduced from 35 per cent to 29.75 per cent.

Samvardhana Motherson International: The company said the board has approved acquiring an additional 30% stake in Youngshin Motherson Auto Tech (YMAT) from Youngshin Components Co Ltd, Korea. Post completion of the transaction, the company will hold 80% of the equity share capital of YMAT and accordingly, YMAT will become a subsidiary of the company.

Quick Heal: The company has announced the appointment of Ankit Maheshwari as the Chief Financial Officer w.e.f April 26, 2023.

Oil-linked stocks: Upstream firms, oil marketing companies, paint, as well as tyre stocks are expected to hog the limelight today as oil prices dropped 2 per cent on Monday amid a strong dollar. That apart, a possible May interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve, too, dampened the sentiment.

Vedanta: The Vedanta Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with 20 Korean display glass manufacturers, as per reports.

Angel One: The company reported a 31 per cent growth in year-on-year (YoY) consolidated net profit at Rs 267 crore for the quarter ended March. The numbers stood at Rs 205 crore in the same period last year. On a sequential basis, net profit rose 17 per cent.

Just Dial: The company's net profit surges 11 per cent to Rs 83.6 crore this quarter versus Rs 75.3 crore in the previous quarter.

Muthoot Finance: Shares of Muthoot Finance will trade ex-dividend today. The gold financing company had earlier announced an interim dividend of Rs 22 per equity share for the financial year 2022-23.

Indian Oil Corporation: The company has awarded Managed Services contract of Rs 16.29 crore to 3i Infotech.
