Stock market today: Domestic benchmark indexes jumped to fresh record highs on Tuesday, June 25, thanks to buying in financial, and IT stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 712.44 points or 0.92 per cent to settle at record 78,053.52 after scaling an all-time high of 78,164.71. NSE Nifty rallied 183.45 points or 0.78 per cent to settle at record 23,721.3, after scaling a fresh all-time high of 23,754.15. The high-beta Nifty Bank index, whose 12 constituents include SBI, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank closed at record 52,606, up 1.74 per cent or 902.05 points.

"The domestic market experienced a financial sector-driven rally today, primarily led by private banks, with the Nifty Bank reaching a new high and the Sensex surpassing 78,000. However, profit booking was evident in sectors such as realty, power, metals, and midcaps," Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services said.

"Amidst moderate consolidations and sector rotations, the market is moving upwards due to expectations from the upcoming budget. Additionally, the progress of the monsoon is being watched for insights into the consumption outlook," he added. 

Among the Nifty companies, 25 were advancing, 24 were declining while 1 remained unchanged. 

Shriram Finance, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC bank, and Tech Mahindra led the gains while BPCL, Eicher Motors, Power Grid, Asian Paints, and Tata Steel were the top decliners in the Nifty 50 universe.

The domestically focussed Nifty SmallCap100 was up 0.14 per cent, while the Nifty MidCap100 settled 0.38 per cent lower, respectively.

Among individual stocks, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility closed at Rs 1,647, up 19.4 per cent on BSE.

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M) shares hogged the limelight on Tuesday, June 25, a day after Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies signed a licensing agreement with GIB EnergyX, a subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech Co, for lithium-ion cell technology. Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility. 

Global Market

European shares slipped on Tuesday as Airbus tumbled after a profit warning and dragged down aerospace-related stocks. Last seen, the continent-wide STOXX 600 fell 0.3 per cent.
