Share Market Today, September 16, 2024:  Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty will likely start the new crucuial week in a positive zone. At around 8:02 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were up 67.9 points or 0.27 per cent at 25,440.5 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.

As the crucial easing cycle is yet to start by the world's most developed economy, Asian markets traded mixed.  Furthermore, markets of China, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia observed an holiday today. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan (.MIAPJ0000PUS), traded flat with a negative bias, after bouncing 0.8 per cent last week.

The US markets in Friday's session ended higher, with Dow Jones and NASDAQ ending 0.72 per cent and 0.65 per cent higher, respectively.

Oil prices

Oil prices inched higher on rate cut outlook by the Federal Reserve. Although gains remained capped on the back of US supply resumptions after softer Chinese data and hurricance Franchine. Brent crude last traded higher by 0.14 per cent at $71.71 per bbl, while the WTI benchmark traded higher by 0.34 per cent at $68.88 per bbl.
