TCS, HUL, ITC, LIC, 5 other companies gain Rs 95,523 crore in mcap in a week; see list
During the August 19-23 trading week, the Sensex rose 649.4 points - or 0.8 per cent - while the Nifty50 gained 282 points - or 1.1 per cent. Among the 39 weekly gainers in the Nifty50 basket were Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Hero MotoCorp, while ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors were among the top weekly losers.
Domestic equity benchmarks rose about one per cent each during the trading week from August 19 to August 23, The Sensex registered a weekly gain of 649.4 points - or 0.8 per cent - while the Nifty50 rose 282 points - or 1.1 per cent, with Hindalco, SBI Life, BPCL, Bajaj Finserv and HDFC Life being the biggest weekly gainers in the 50-blue-chip basket.
Also among the 39 weekly gainers in the Nifty50 basket were Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Hero MotoCorp. On the other hand, ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors were among the top weekly losers.

Meanwhile, nine of the country's most valued companies gained more than Rs 95,500 crore during the course of the week, including Tata group IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), and cigarettes-to-hotels conglomerate ITC, according to provisional exchange data.
The market value - also known as mcap - of Reliance Industries rose by Rs 29,634.3 crore, of TCS by Rs 17,167.8 crore, and of Hindustan Unilever by Rs 15,225.4 crore.
Also, Bharti Airtel gained Rs 12,268.4 crore in market value for the week, while ICICI Bank's increased by Rs 11,524.9 crore.
Among other most valued companies, ITC, SBI, LIC and Infosys gained a cumulative Rs 9,702 crore during the week, according to the data.
Here are the figures:
- ITC: Rs 3,965.1 crore
- SBI: Rs 2,498.9 crore
- LIC: Rs 1,992.4 crore
In the top 10 most valued club, HDFC Bank was the only company to see a decline in market value for the week.
The private sector banking giant's market capitalisation decreased by Rs 4,835.3 crore for the week.
