Share Market News August 8: At around 7:50 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the Nifty50 index were down 173 points or 0.71 per cent at 24,192 ahead of opening on Dalal Street..  Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex registered sharp gains on Wednesday driven by buying interest in financial, energy and IT shares. The Sensex ended 874.9 points, or 1.1 per cent, higher at 79,468 while the 50-blue-chip index settled at 24,297.5, up 305 points, or 1.3 per cent, from its previous close. 

Investors await the outcome of a key bi-monthly policy review due on Friday for domestic cues. 

Meanwhile, here's a list of stocks that are likely to be in focus on Thursday, including Godrej Consumer Products, Pidilite, Apollo Tyres, and RITES.

Corporate earnings

Godrej Consumer Products, Apollo Tyres and Dr Lal Pathlabs were among the companies that released their financial results for the April-June period post-market hours on Wednesday. 

GCPL reported a 41.3 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs 450.6 crore for the quarter ended June 30. 

Zee Business analysts had pegged the FMCG major's quarterly net profit at Rs 484 crore. 

More than 20 companies are slated to report their financial results on Thursday, including Page Industries, MRF, SAIL, Bharat Forge, Bayer Cropscience, Ircon International, Concor, RVNL, Sobha, and JB Chem & Pharma. Here's the list:

 RITES, Ecoplast and Sealmatic India shares are scheduled to trade ex-dividend, and Rajoo Engineers ex-dividend on Thursday.
