Equity benchmarks in the domestic markets are set to open on a negative note as indicated by GIFT Nifty futures that are down 0.07 per cent. In the previous day's trade, benchmarks ended muted with a positive bias for the ninth consecutive session.

Last the MSCI's broadest index of Asia Pacific shares outside Japan was down 0.37 per cent

Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Japan's Nikkei were down up to 0.9 per cent

In the overnight trade in US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 crept higher to record highs. But the NASDAQ Composite lost some ground as caution prevailed amid some caution before Nvidia’s earnings. 

Shares to remain in focus today

HCL Technologies is scheduled to conduct its annual Investor Day event with its shareholders. 

NBCC India's board is scheduled to meet on August 31 to consider a bonus shares proposal. Insecticides India's board is slated to meet on August 30 to consider a proposal to launch a share buyback through the tender route.
