NTPC stock slides after PSU reports below-estimate December quarter results

NTPC Share Price: NTPC shares slid on Tuesday (January 30, 2024) after the power generation company reported below estimate December quarter results.

A day after hitting a 52-week high of Rs 325.70, the stock of the PSU ended the trading session on Tuesday lower by 2.*3 per cent, or Rs 9.20, at Rs 315.45.

The company's standalone revenue for the December quarter slipped by 4.7 per cent to Rs 39455 crore against Rs 41410 crore Year-on-Year (YoY), Zee Business research had estimated it to be Rs 44810 crore.

Standalone profit after tax saw a slight jump of 2.1 per cent to Rs 4572 crore compared to Rs 4476 crore a year ago.

The analysts had estimated it to be Rs 4895 crore.

The power company's EBITDA slid by 13.6 per cent to Rs 9941.06 crore in the December quarter against Rs 11505 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. 

The margin for the third quarter stood at 25.20 per cent, down from 28 per cent YoY, below the estimates of 27.8 per cent.

The company also announced a second interim dividend of Rs. 2.5 per equity share on the face value of paid-up equity shares of Rs 10 each. 

The date of payment for the interim dividend is February 22, 2024.
