Maruti Suzuki, NTPC, GAIL: Stocks to watch out for today
Maruti Suzuki announced its results after market close on Monday, recording a standalone PAT of Rs 2,485.1 crore in the April-June quarter. The companys shares performed well on Monday as they rose 1.42 per cent to Rs 9,806 each.
Stocks to watch: At around 8:46 AM on Tuesday, August 1, the GIFT Nifty futures traded 42.5 points higher, or 0.21 per cent at 19,883.5, suggesting a positive opening of the market. On Monday, the benchmark Nifty index finished strong with a gain of 107.8 points, or 0.6 per cent at 19,753.8, and the Sensex surged 367.5 points, or 0.6 per cent for the day to settle at 66,527.7.

Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki announced its results after the market closed on Monday, recording a standalone PAT of Rs 2,485.1 crore in the April-June quarter.
The automaker's revenue from operations also rose significantly to Rs 32,326.9 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year, according to a regulatory filing.
The company's shares performed well on Monday, as they rose 1.42 per cent to Rs 9,806 at the market close.
NTPC
Shares of NTPC Limited rose 4.02 per cent to Rs 218.45 after the company announced an over 23 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit in its Q1 results on Monday.
The company added Rs 8,194.67 crore to its market valuation, bringing it to Rs 2,11,823.67 crore.
A total of 18.45 lakh shares of the company traded on the BSE, while over 4.34 crore shares traded on the NSE during the day.
The company said its profitability was driven by factors like larger sales volumes, cost reduction efforts, improved realisation, and higher non-operating income.
Castrol India
Lubes maker Castrol India on Monday reported a 9 per cent jump in its profit after tax at Rs 225 crore in the April-June quarter against a PAT of Rs 206 crore a year ago.
The company said that its revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,334 crore, compared to Rs 1,242 crore in the year-ago period.
Despite registering a profit, there was not a lot of buying interest among the shares. The company's share fell 1.80 per cent to Rs 144.85 on Monday.
Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company
The board will consider a proposal to raise funds through Qualified Institutional Placement, or QIP.
July auto sales numbers
Automotive companies such as Maruti Suzuki, TVS Motor, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, and others will declare their sales numbers for July today.

Power Grid
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. posted over a 5 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,597.16 crore on Monday due to increased finance costs. It had reported a net profit of Rs 3,801.29 crore during the April-June period of the preceding 2022–23 fiscal, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Welspun India
Home textiles major Welspun India Ltd reported a multi-fold rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 162.73 crore for the first quarter ended June 2023, helped by higher margins. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 21.36 crore in the April-June quarter last fiscal, Welspun India said in a regulatory filing.
IRB Infrastructure Developers
IRB Infrastructure Developers posted a 63 per cent fall in its profit after tax to Rs 133.77 crore during the April-June quarter, dragged by lower income. It had reported a net profit of Rs 363.19 crore during the April-June period last year, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar
Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 74.69 crore in the June quarter on lower revenue. The company had posted a net loss of Rs 44.91 crore in the year-ago period.
Kamdhenu
Leading TMT maker Kamdhenu Ltd posted a 20 per cent growth in its net profit to Rs 12.1 crore for the June 2023 quarter, helped by higher revenues. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 10 crore during the April-June period of the preceding 2022–23 fiscal, the company said in a statement. The company's revenue from operations also rose by 9 per cent to Rs 208.6 crore from Rs 191.2 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Dhanlaxmi Bank
Private sector Dhanlaxmi Bank recorded a net profit of Rs 28.30 crore in the April-June quarter, mainly due to a decline in bad loans. The lender had posted a net of Rs 26.43 crore in the year-ago period. The total income in the first quarter of the current fiscal year rose to Rs 5,857 crore against Rs 3,797 crore, UCO Bank said in a regulatory filing.
Adani Green
Adani Green Energy Limited reported revenue from power supply at Rs 2,059 crore during the April-June 2023 quarter, an increase of 55 per cent year-on-year. In the same quarter of 2022, it was Rs 1,328 crore. Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) today announced financial results for the quarter ended June 2023.

Oil manufacturing companies have increased the automatic transmission fluid, or ATF, prices to Rs 7,728, which will be applicable today.

Adani Energy Solutions, earlier known as Adani Transmission, posted an 8 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 181.98 crore in the June quarter, mainly on the back of higher revenues. The company's consolidated net profit was Rs 168.46 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2022, according to a regulatory filing. The total income of the company rose to Rs 3,772.25 crore during the quarter from Rs 3,249.74 crore a year ago.
Som Distilleries & Breweries
Som Distilleries & Breweries posted a 31.22 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 33.67 crore in the June quarter. The company's consolidated net profit was Rs 25.66 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2022, according to a regulatory filing.
Kaynes Technology India
Kaynes Technology India posted a 150 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 25 crore in the June quarter. The company's consolidated net profit was Rs 10 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2022, according to a regulatory filing.
Petronet LNG
Petronet LNG posted a 28.6 per cent rise in its net profit to Rs 789.9 crore in the June quarter. The company's consolidated net profit was Rs 614.3 crore in the quarter ending on June 30, 2022, according to a regulatory filing.

Reliance and ONGC
The government has hiked the windfall gain tax on domestic crude oil exports from Rs 1600/tonne to Rs 4250/tonne. The additional export duty on diesel has been increased from zero to Rs 1/litre. New rates will be applicable from August 1.
