Dalal Street Week Ahead: Earnings, macro data, FII trends, global cues set to dictate market trend

Share Market News: Domestic equity benchmarks logged their second consecutive weekly losses on Friday, October 11, as the Sensex settled at 81,381.4 and the Nifty50 at 24,964.3. For the week ended October 11, the 30-scrip index lost 307.1 points, or 0.4 per cent, while the Nifty declined 50.4 points, or 0.2 per cent. As market participants await a new trading week on Dalal Street, here is a list of factors and events to look out for: 

DOMESTIC

Earnings

More than 125 companies are scheduled to report their quarterly numbers during the week, including Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consumer Products, Nestle India, Bajaj Auto, Coal India, LTTS, ICICI Lombard and Havells India. Here are some of the prominent names to track:

• Monday: HCLTech, Angel One, Reliance 
• Tuesday: HDFC AMC, HDFC Life, Bank of Maharashtra, PVR INOX, Rallis
• Wednesday: Bajaj Auto, Coal India, LTTS, Crisil, Mphasis, South Indian Bank
• Thursday: Infosys, Nestle India, Axis Bank, Ceat, Central Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Havells India, LTIMindtree, Polycab
• Friday: Wipro, Tata Consumer Products, Tata Chemicals, Tata Communications, Tanla, ICICI Lombard, Jio Financial Services, Oberoi Realty

Corporate Action

A number of stocks are scheduled to trade ex-date for corporate action such as rights, splits and dividends. 

Macroeconomic Data

Data on wholesale inflation is due at noon and on consumer inflation at 5:30 pm on Monday. 

FII Activity

Institutional investor flows will be tracked closely for possible repercussions for the domestic market.

In the last trading week, foreign institutional investors set sold Indian shares to the tune of Rs 27,675 crore while domestic institutional investors made net purchases of Rs 31,364 crore, according to provisional exchange data. 

FIIs and DIIs have followed the same trend for the past few weeks. FIIs have net sold equities worth 58,394.6 crore while DIIs have net purchased shares worth Rs 57,792 crore in October so far, the data shows.  

GLOBAL 

A number of central bank officials are scheduled to meet during the course of the week.
