The auto major's stock rose by as much as 1.19 per cent, to Rs 4,618 apiece on BSE. Typically, securities tend to fall on the day they trade ex-dividend owing to the adjustment on account of the payout. However, the counter finished at Rs 4532.1, down by Rs 31.25 or 0.68 per cent on BSE.
Earlier, the leading two-wheeler manufacturer announced an interim dividend of Rs 75 per equity share and a special dividend of Rs 25 per equity share with a face value of Rs 2, amounting to a total payout of Rs 100 per equity share.
"Interim Dividend @3,750 per cent, i.e. Rs. 75 per equity shares and a special dividend @1250 per cent i.e. Rs. 25 per equity shares, taking overall interim dividend @ 5,000 per cent i.e. Rs. 100 per equity share for the financial year 2023-24, marking the centennial year of Chairman Emeritus Dr Brijmohan Lall Munjal," Hero MotoCorp said in a regulatory filing on February 9.

The payment of dividend or dispatch of dividend warrants will be completed by March 9.
"Accordingly, the Board has fixed February 21, 2024 as record date for determining entitlement of members for payment of interim and special dividend. The payment of dividend/dispatch of dividend warrants will be completed by March 09, 2024," the filing added.
