Pre-market trade: Sensex, Nifty poised to start higher; GIFT Nifty up 0.26%
Indian equities after being knocked sharply over the past five sessions are set to open higher as indicated by the GIFT Nifty futures.
Share Market Today, October 28, 2024: Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty are likely to open higher in today's session (October 28). At around 8:28 am, GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were up 0.26 per cent at 24,2555.5 ahead of the opening bell on Dalal Street.
Global Markets Update | US Stock Markets, Asian Share Market
The key MSCI Asia ex-Japan index traded marginally lower by 0.11 per cent at 598.98. However, the Asian markets traded mixed with Japan's Nikkei and South Korea's Kospi in the green, while all other key Asian indices traded weak.
The gains in the Japanese stocks were fuelled as the yen depreciated to a 3-month low after Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's coalition lost its parliamentary majority in Sunday's election.
On Friday', the US markets ended mixed, with NASDAQ ending 0.56 per cent higher, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and S&P 500 ending in the red with a cut of 0.61 per cent and 0.03 per cent, respectively.
Oil prices
Oil prices plummeted sharply in Asian trade after Israeli strikes on Iran over the weekend avoided the oil infra of OPEC members. At the last count, brent crude was down over 4 per cent at $72.69 per bbl, while WTI Crude lost over 4.58 per cent to $68.49 per bbl.
