Chandrayaan-3: Stocks of companies behind India's moon mission rally ahead of soft landing
Chandrayaan-3: If the mission is successful, India will become the fourth country to soft-land on the moon after the US, China, and the former Soviet Union. India will also become the first country to reach the unexplored, larger south pole of the moon.
Chandrayaan-3: India is just hours away from making history as ISRO's ambitious third moon mission, Chandrayaan-3's Lander Module (LM), is all set to touch down on the lunar surface today. The LLM, comprising the lander (Vikram) and the rover (Pragyan), is scheduled to make a touchdown near the south polar region of the Moon at 6:04 p.m.
If the mission is successful, India will become the fourth country to soft-land on the moon after the US, China, and the former Soviet Union. India will also become the first country to reach the unexplored, larger south pole of the moon.
Here are a few stocks that are in focus after the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3.
Larsen and Toubro (L&T)
Civil construction company L&T manufactured critical booster segments, namely the head end segment, middle segment, and nozzle bucket flange for Chandrayaan 3.
At the time of filing the report, L&T shares were trading 0.98 per cent higher on the BSE at Rs 2,706 apiece. The stock hit a 52-week high of 2,725.75 apiece in Wednesday's trading.
BHEL
The company manufactured batteries for the Lander Module and the Propulsion Module.
Last seen, BHEL shares were trading 1.8 per cent lower at Rs 109.05 apiece on the BSE. The stock in the early trade touched the 52-week high at Rs 113.35 apiece but soon pared gains.
MTAR Technologies
The company provided ISRO with engines and booster pumps for the Chandrayaan 3 launch vehicle.
Last seen, MTAR Technologies shares were trading 3.6 per cent higher at Rs 2,195.1 apiece on the BSE. The stock touched an intra-day high of Rs 2,208.95 apiece on BSE.
Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd
The company supplied critical materials for the launch vehicle.
At the time of filing the report, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd shares were trading 3.15 per cent higher on the BSE at Rs 408.2 apiece. The stock hit a 52-week high of 414.7 apiece in Wednesday's trading.
Centum Electronics
Centum Electronics designed and produced the electronic systems for space applications in Chandrayaan-3.
Last seen, Centum Electronics shares were trading 8.43 per cent higher at Rs 1,553 apiece on BSE.
HAL, Paras Defense and Space Technologies, and Walchandnagar Industries have also contributed to the construction of Chandrayaan-3.
