Bharti Airtel expands network footprint in Vadodara district; shares rise
Bharti Airtel said its customers in the tehsils of Vadodara, Savli, Padra, Vaghodia and Karjan, would directly benefit from this network expansion. The telecom major has been running a rural expansion project nationally.
Bharti Airtel shares rose on Wednesday after the private sector telecom firm said it had deployed additional sites in Vadodara district to densify its network. The stock of Bharti Airtel gained by as much as Rs 32.2, or 2.7 per cent, to Rs 1,240.6 apiece on BSE before settling at Rs 1,222.8 apiece for the day.
The company, which has been running a rural expansion project nationally, undertook its network expansion project across 320 villages in the district, covering a population base of 4.25 lakh. Customers in the tehsils of Vadodara, Savli, Padra, Vaghodia, Karjan under the Vadodara district would directly benefit from this network expansion, and the expansion would enable seamless access to high-speed connectivity that will ensure reliable mobile network for work, study, and entertainment in rural parts of Vadodara, it said.
The company also said it would augment network connectivity across 60,000 villages in the country by 2024.
"Gujarat has been one of the big focus markets for the Company and with this initiative, the Company will augment its network coverage across 7,000 villages covering the entire state," it said.
In this year alone, Bharti Airtel has doubled down on its commitment to the state, and invested additional capex to enhance its network connectivity for a seamless experience on 4G, 5G, broadband, and fiber.
