Share Market Today LIVE | UBS on election results and its impact on markets
If BJP does not get majority, it will have to form government with alliance which will be negative for the markets, says UBS
Three scenerios can happen now as per its report:
1. The government may not run smoothly if there are people from the alliance in the ministry with PM Modi.
2. NDA should form the government and the PM should not be Narendra Modi but someone else.
3. BJP alliance members should join INDIA and form government, there will be big policy changes.
Only the first scenerio of the three is positive for the market. The pace of reforms will remain the same in the first scenerio. Market valuations will be expensive.

"The index has fallen by about 5 per cent due to a weaker trend for the NDA in the poll counting. The market, which had begun to price in a landslide victory for the NDA, is witnessing a significant correction due to margin calls, as retail investors were carrying heavily leveraged positions. Support seems to be very fragile. Immediate support is visible at the psychological level of 22,000, below which the index might fall further towards 21,400-21,500. Recovery looks possible once the trend moves in favor of the BJP winning the election comfortably," says Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst, LKP Securities.

Share Market Today LIVE | Market crash can be linked to rising rates, recession fears, uncertainty surrounding the LS polls, says market expert
Atul Parakh, CEO of Bigul says, "The market crash can be linked to rising rates and recession fears, but also the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Investors should avoid knee-jerk reactions and reassess portfolios based on risk profiles."
"Quality stocks at discounted valuations are opportunities for long-term holders. However, brace for volatility until the election results provide clarity. Diversification across asset classes remains crucial. Consult financial advisors to review portfolios. Once the political landscape settles, the market could find support if a stable government emerges to drive economic reforms," he adds.

Share Market Today LIVE | How will LS election results impact market today?
"The steep fall is due to the results so far falling short of the exit polls which the market had discounted yesterday. If BJP doesn’t get a majority on its own there will be disappointment and this is getting reflected in the market. Also, it is possible that Modi 3.O may not be as reform-oriented as the market expected and may turn more welfare- oriented. This is getting reflected in the strength in FMCG stocks," says Dr. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services.

Share Market Today LIVE | What does India VIX recovey mean to investors?
"VIX has eased 14 per cent, which suggests that market expectation for downside surprise has eased. Historically VIX collapses immediately after maturity of the event, which suggests that call premia has limited room for upside, even if results bests exit poll outcome in favour of the ruling party. However, given the fact VIX is yet to slip below 20, an expectation of outlier is still very present. Our go to strategy for such a scenario is an iron condor or iron butterfly option strategy, which bets on VIX’s collapse, but also limits risk, in order to account for wild scenarios," says Anand James, Chief Market Strategist,Geojit Financial Services.

Global brokerage JP Morgan anticipates re-rating of Nifty valuations in case the Modi government comes to power once again and on the likely rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India. Furthermore, on the valuations re-rating it has pegged Nifty’s target at 25 per cent in the base and bull case.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services believes that with the continuity of the present government post the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, both the economy and capital markets will be stable. Share Market Today LIVE | Election day outcome and circuit limits history on Indian exchanges; here’s all you need to know
Needless to say, election outcome day is a much watched-out event and for the bourses it leads to heightened volatility resulting in circuit limits. So, here is a quick take on the historical connection between election outcome day and circuit limits.
First, let’s get started by understanding, circuit limits:
What is the circuit limit or price band?
On the stock exchanges, in order to control or safeguard excessive movement in the stock price in a very short time, circuit limits or price bands are decided. So, this indeed can determine the range within which the stock can trade on a particular day.
Similar to a stock, there is also an index-based circuit limit to protect investors’ interest at large. So, as per the norms there circuit filters on the indices are triggered when the benchmark indices moves above or below the stipulated limits of 10 per cent, 15 per cent or 20 per cent. And in case such a situation is seen, a temporary halt in trading occurs nationwide.
“These circuit breakers when triggered bring about a coordinated trading halt in all equity and equity derivative markets nationwide. The market-wide circuit breakers are triggered by movement of either the BSE Sensex or the Nifty 50, whichever is breached earlier,” said the NSE website. Read more
