Share Market Today LIVE | GIFT Nifty first session single-day turnover hits record $22.27 billion
GIFT Nifty recorded a new milestone by scaling an all-time high first session single day trading activity of 5,18,522 contracts with a turnover of around US$ 22.27 billion or Rs 1,85,098 crore on Tuesday (January 23, 2024). The financial index surpassed its prior record of single-day full-session trading turnover of US $16.76 billion on November 28, 2023.
GIFT Nifty commenced full-scale operation on July 3, 2023 and since then trading turnover on NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) has been rising exponentially.
“Since the first day of full-scale operations, GIFT Nifty has witnessed a total cumulative volume of over 10.84 million contracts with total cumulative turnover of US $ 430.06 billion,” said the release by the GIFT IFSC. Read more

Share Market Today LIVE: Buy Godrej Consumer, Dr Reddy's shares, says Nilesh Jain
Nilesh Jain of Centrum Broking shares two stock recommendations with Zee Business viewers.
Jain suggests buying Godrej Consumer Products shares for targets of Rs 1,180 and Rs 1,200 with a stop loss at Rs 1,141.
He also has a 'buy' recommendation on Dr Reddy's Labs shares for targets of Rs 5,950 and Rs 6,050 with a stop loss at Rs 5,770.
Share Market Today LIVE: Canara Bank Q3 net profit jumps 27% to Rs 3,656 crore, NII growth at 9.5%; shares continue to struggle below flatline
State-run Canara Bank reports a standalone net profit of Rs 3,656.1 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2023, as against a standalone net profit of Rs 2,881.5 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.
The PSU bank's net interest income, or the difference between interest earned and interest paid, grows 9.5 per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 9,417.1 crore, according to a regulatory filing.
Its net interest margin (NIM), a key measure of profitability for lenders, stands at 3.05 per cent for the fiscal third quarter as against 3.03 per cent for the previous three months.
According to Zee Business research, the state-run lender's quarterly net profit was estimated at Rs 3,460 crore and NII at Rs 9,060 crore.

Tanla Platforms shares fall by Rs 87.8, or 7.7 per cent, to Rs 1,046.6 apiece at the weakest level of the day so far, a day after the technology firm reports financial results for the October-December period.
Here's a summary of Tanla Platforms Q3 FY24 earnings on a consolidated basis:
- Revenue at Rs 1,002.6 crore, down one per cent sequentially
- EBITDA down two per cent on a quarter-on-quarter basis at Rs 192.8 crore
- Margin at 19.2 per cent vs 19.5 per cent in Q2
- Net profit at Rs 140.1 crore as against Rs 142.5 crore in Q2
The company announced an interim dividend of Rs 6 per share with a record date of February 5.
