According to CLSA, amid growing income, the sale of premium products has outpaced mass market alternatives over the past decade, and the India premiumisation theme will be at play for the next ten years. The trend is the result of growing aspirations in the backdrop of increasing social media penetration and the availability of digital content, says CLSA, which suggests that investors focus on players that are dominating their premium segment.
Premiumisation has primarily benefited sectors like consumer, auto and property, the brokerage highlights.
What is premiumisation?
Premiumisation is a marketing strategy that involves enhancing the value perception of a product or service by adding features, quality or price. It aims to attract consumers by offering higher quality or exclusivity, leading to increased brand loyalty and profitability.
The concept focuses on creating a premium brand image, appealing to consumers willing to pay more for perceived value.
Companies often employ premiumisation to differentiate themselves from competitors and target affluent customers. By leveraging premiumisation, businesses can elevate their offerings, establish a strong market position, and drive revenue growth through strategic pricing and product positioning.
