At close, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 319.63 points, or 0.47 per cent at 67,838.63, and the NSE Nifty was up 89.25 points, or 0.44 per cent at 20,192.35.

NTPC, Coal India, Cipla, L&T and Tata Steel were top performers, while Britannia, Eicher, HUL, HDFC Bank and Nestle were the key laggards during Nifty's 19k to 20k journey during Jun'23- Sept'23. The Nifty-50 has touched the milestone of 20,000 in Sep'23. After a volatile and long journey from 18k to 19k, the Nifty-50 added the next 1,000 points (19k to 20k) relatively faster — only 52 trading days (from Jul'23-Sep'23) vs. 425 trading sessions (from Oct'21-Jun'23) during its journey from 18k to 19k, as per a report by Motilal Oswal Financial Services. “We reckon the upside from here will be a function of stability in global and local macros and continued earnings delivery versus expectations,” the report said. “Moreover, we note that during the last five General Elections (1999-2019), the Nifty-50 rallied 10-32 per cent six months prior to the announcement of election results. India will be going into General Elections in Mar-May'24." Read more

Shares of Lemon Tree Hotels hit an all-time high of Rs 125.50 apiece on the BSE on Friday, September 15, after the company announced on Thursday that it has signed two new properties: Lemon Tree Hotel, Junagadh, Gujarat, India, and Tigerland Safari: A Lemon Tree Resort, Chitwan, Nepal.
The former is expected to be operational by FY 2025, and the latter is expected to be operational in FY 2024 itself, the company said in its press release. Pharmaceutical company Strides Pharma Science shares rally on Friday for the third straight day and zoom nearly 12 per cent to clock a fresh 52-week high of Rs 522.75, surpassing the previous 52-week high of Rs 490.05, clocked on September 8, 2023. The stock jumps after its wholly-owned subsidiary, Strides Pharma Global Pte. Limited, Singapore, received tentative approval for Dolutegravir 50mg tablets from the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA).
The product is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference-listed drug (RLD), Tivicay Tablets, of ViiV Healthcare Company. The products will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Bengaluru, and conversion of this tentative approval to a full approval is expected upon expiry of the constraining patents. The company has 260 cumulative ANDA filings (including the recently acquired portfolio from Endo at Chestnut Ridge) with the USFDA, of which 230+ ANDAs have been approved. The company is eyeing around 60 new product launches over the next three years in the US. Read more

Share Market Today LIVE | Bajaj Auto hits all-time high of Rs 5,076.85 on BSE after BoFA Securities upgrades stock to buy
Shares of Bajaj Auto rally as much as 4.84 per cent to hit a record high of Rs 5,076.85 apiece on the BSE on Friday, September 15, after reports said that global brokerage BofA Securities upgraded the stock to Buy from Neutral and revised the target price to Rs 5,550 from Rs 5,100 earlier.
The brokerage, in its note, said that all the segments of the two-wheeler major are well positioned for positive growth in FY25. It expects a 14-15 per cent revenue compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over FY23–26. The brokerage, as per reports, added that the company's business model is quite well positioned, with both cyclical and structural drivers at play. Read more

Days after Larsen & Toubro (L&T) revised its buyback prices higher, textile manufacturing company Siyaram Silk Mills on Thursday raised its share buyback price. The company has increased the price to Rs 720 apiece from Rs 650 earlier. Reacting to the development, shares of the company witnessed huge buying interest that pushed the share price to its fresh 52-week high of Rs 633.10 apiece on the BSE in the opening deals on Friday (September 15).The stock trades 5.06 per cent higher at Rs 618.45 on the BSE.
