The Sensex ends 501.7 points or 0.8 per cent lower at 58,909.4 and the Nifty50 settles at 17,321.9, down 129 points or 0.7 per cent from its previous close.

The approval from Sebi is strategically important for the company as it enables the firm to complete its suite of financial solutions for retail customers, said Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv.

Indian Oil gets new executive director for eastern regional office
State-run oil marketing company Indian Oil Corp (IOC) announces the appointment of KV Ramanamurthy as executive director of its eastern regional office.
Ramanamurthy has experience of more than three decades in various domains of the PSU, according to a company statement.
Indian Oil holds on firmly to the green on D-Street, with a gain of more than one per cent at Rs 77.8 apiece.
Gold Rate Today | MCX gold futures stuck in Rs 55,750-55,800 range
MCX gold futures (due for expiry on April 5) quote at Rs 55,810 per 10 grams at this hour, weaker by Rs 20 from their previous close. Earlier in the day, the gold futures contract came down to as low as Rs 55,751 per 10 grams.
Benchmark US gold futures quoted at $1,837 per ounce, weaker by $8.5 or 0.5 per cent for the day.
Gold is left with a gain of about two per cent for the year so far.

He suggests selling Nifty futures at 17,500 with a stop loss at 17,600 for targets of 17,350 and 17,300.
The headline index has largely stayed within the 17,350-17,450 band so far today.

Kothari suggests buying the 40,600 call option of the banking index at Rs 60 for targets of Rs 100 and Rs 150 with a stop loss at Rs 20.
This makes it an at-the-money call option, as the Nifty Bank trades with a cut of 111.1 points or 0.3 per cent for the day at 40,587.1, having broadly moved within the 40,500-40,800 band in intraday trade so far.

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) shares soar as high as 15 per cent to Rs 67.3 apiece on BSE, trading with huge volumes, after the railway infra PSU emerges the lowest bidder for making and maintaining 200 Vande Bharat trains in a joint venture with Russia's Metrowagonmash.
"The total quantity is 200 Trainsets and cost per set is Rs 120 crore," RVNL said in a regulatory filing.
As many as 44.9 lakh RVNL shares have changed hands so far today on BSE, as against a daily average of 10.4 lakh in the past two weeks, according to provisional exchange data.
Adani-Hindenburg Saga | Supreme Court orders setting up of panel to probe Adani group share crash
The Supreme Court orders setting up of a six-member committee to look into various regulatory aspects for the stock market, including the recent crash in Adani group shares. Stocks belonging to the Adani conglomerate have suffered huge losses triggered by US-based Hindenburg Research's report in January that accused the Indian group of stock manipulation and improper use of offshore tax havens, charges denied by the Adani group.
The panel will be headed by former Supreme Court judge AM Sapre, said bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala, and will make an overall assessment of the situation, suggest measures towards enhancing investor awareness and strengthening existing regulatory measures for stock markets.

The three main Wall Street indices retreated from their strongest level of the day on Wednesday, with the S&P %00 and the Nasdaq Composite declining around half a per cent each, and the Dow Jones finishing flat, after US manufacturing data indicated inflation in the world's largest economy is likely to remain high. Also, comments from Fed policymakers supported a hawkish stance.
It was a second straight lower close each for the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite.

- Dow Jones Industrial Average: up 5.1 points at 32,661.8, having risen as much as 89.5 points or 0.3 per cent to 32,746.2 in intraday trade

- Nasdaq Composite: down 76.1 points or 0.7 per cent at 11,379.5

The Sensex finished the March 1 session 449 points or 0.8 per cent higher at 59,411.1, having climbed to as high as 59,475.5 during the session. The Nifty settled at 17,450.9, up 147 points or 0.9 per cent from its previous close.
