Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: The Indian share market rallied for the sixth consecutive session on Friday, September 8, topping a month high amid buying in bank, auto, financial services, realty, and oil & gas stocks. The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) decision to discontinue the incremental cash reserve ratio (ICRR) boosted the rally in banking stocks.
BSE Sensex ended 333.35 points, or 0.5 per cent higher at 66,598.91, and NSE Nifty finished up 92.9 points, or 0.47 per cent at 19,819.95.

Share Market HIGHLIGHTS | NTPC, Coal India, BPCL among top gainers in Nifty basket
NTPC, Coal India, BPCL and Tata Motors are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 3-2 per cent. On the other hand, UltraTech Cement, Eicher Motors, UPL and Apollo Hospitals are among the top losers, down around 1 per cent.

Share Market Today LIVE | ONGC to invest Rs 15,000 crore in ONGC Petro-additions; stock rises
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) shares rose over 1 per cent after the state-owned oil exploration company said it will infuse about Rs 15,000 crore in ONGC Petro-additions (OPaL) as part of a financial restructuring exercise that will see gas utility GAIL being edged out of the petrochemical firm. ONGC currently holds a 49.36 per cent stake in ONGC Petro-additions Ltd (OPaL), which operates a mega petrochemical plant at Dahej in Gujarat. GAIL (India) Ltd has 49.21 per cent interest, and Gujarat State Petrochemical Corp (GSPC) has the remaining 1.43 per cent. Read more

Bajaj Finserv shares gain more than 2 per cent on the bourses, after a stellar performance by its subsidiary, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, for the month of August. In August, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company reported a robust Gross Direct Premium underwritten, amounting to Rs 1,677.87 crore, which increased by 64.3 per cent from Rs 1,021 crore reported in August 2022. For the cumulative period from April to August 2023, the company's Gross Direct Premium reached a substantial Rs 9,228.81 crore, the financial services provider said in a filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday. Share Market Today LIVE | Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders clocks fresh all-time high; the stock has jumped over 380% in 12 months
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders shares zoom nearly 19 per cent to clock a fresh all-time high of Rs 2,338.1 on BSE, a day after the company said in its regulatory filing that it had signed a Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) with the US Government represented by NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Yokosuka. "This is a Non-Financial Agreement. There are only two shipyards in the country including MDL who have signed MSRA. The agreement is expected to open up voyage repairs of US Navy Ships at MDL," the company added.
Defence sector outlook
ICICI Securities, in its research report dated September 5, said, "In our view, continued acceptance of necessity (AoNs), orders, and tests even in the pre-election year (general elections are due in CY24) bode well for the defence sector. It allays the apprehensions of investors pertaining to order book accretion. In this respect, we find BEL particularly in a vantage position, having crossed 50 per cent of order flow guidance (of INR 200bn) for FY24 already." Read more
