Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: The domestic equity market on Wednesday, September 13, edged higher after a volatile start. The NSE Nifty closed above the 20,000 mark for the first time, and both benchmark indices hovered around record highs. Except for IT and Auto, all the counters witnessed buying. At close, the S&P BSE Sensex climbed 245.86 points, or 0.37 per cent, to settle at 67,466.99, and the Nifty ended at 20,070, up 76.8 points, or 0.38 per cent.

Share Market HIGHLIGHTS | Coal India, Grasim, Tata Consumer Products rise most in 50-scrip blue-chip basket
Coal India, Grasim, Tata Consumer Products and Bharti Airtel are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 3-2 per cent. On the other hand, M&M, HDFC Life, Adani Ports and L&T are among the top losers, down nearly 1 per cent.

Ruchit Jain of 5Paisa is positive on Coal India shares, in view of the recent surge to Rs 280-odd levels in the stock with strong volumes after a breakout near Rs 235. Such breakouts that are backed with good volumes are a sign that the uptrend will continue, he adds.
He suggests existing investors to hold their positions in CIL shares with a stop loss at Rs 269, where he expects strong support to come in.

Shares of One 97 Communications Limited, parent company of Fintech giant Paytm, slump 3.82 per cent, or Rs 33.05, at Rs 831.50 each, a day after its CFO Madhur Deora said in the company's AGM that Paytm wouldn't need funding in the near future as it had Rs 8,300 crore of cash balance."We don’t see the need for funding in the near future. We have zero debt, and we are very healthy from a balance sheet standpoint," Deora told shareholders at the annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday. Read more

Shares of footwear manufacturer Bata India slip over 3 per cent after foreign brokerage Citi initiated a sell rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 1,310. The brokerage further said that despite multiple initiatives and reach expansion, revenue CAGR over FY19–23 was only 4 per cent - the lowest among the top-four listed footwear players in India.
