Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: The domestic equity benchmark indices closed lower for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, August 2, amid heavy selling in bank, financial services, metal, realty, and oil & gas stocks. The domestic market slid after weak economic data from the United States, the eurozone, and China triggered caution across global equities. Both headline indices declined over 1 per cent for the day. The Sensex lost 676.53 points to end at 65,782.78, and the Nifty settled at 19,526.55, down 207 points from its previous close.
As many as 45 stocks in the 50-blue-chip basket traded below the flatline. Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, and NTPC were the top laggards, as they traded with gains between 3.49 per cent and 2.64 per cent. On the other hand, Divi's Laboratories, Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers in the Nifty basket. Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever, and Asian Paints were the major gainers on BSE.

Eicher Motors Q1 preview | Net profit likely to rise 40% YoY to Rs 855 crore, EBITDA may grow more than 18.5%
Eicher Motors, which is slated to release its June quarter (Q1 FY24) numbers on Thursday (August 3), is expected to report a good set of numbers for the three-month period. The parent company of bike manufacturer Royal Enfield is estimated to report consolidated revenue of Rs 4,050 crore, up 20.3 per cent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, according to Zee Business Research. The company had posted a revenue of Rs 3,397 crore in the year-ago period. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) are projected to grow 18.6 per cent YoY to Rs 985 crore, while the EBITDA margin is estimated to come in at 24.1 per cent against 24.5 per cent in the year-ago period. Profit after tax (PAT) or net profit, is estimated to rise 39.9 per cent to Rs 855 crore. Read more

"The demand notice was received by the company on the ground that under the Maharashtra Manufactured Beer and Wine Rules, 1966, excise duty was recoverable on wine produced or manufactured from grapes produced in Maharashtra by blending wine brought from across the customs frontier or from other states," the exchange filing read.
