PowerGrid, Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Hospitals and Adani Ports are among the top losers, down nearly 5-2 per cent. On the other hand, Coal India, NTPC, TechM and HCL Tech are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 5-2 per cent.

Titan — a Tata group company that manufactures a range of products including jewellery, watches and eyewear — is scheduled to report its financial results for the April-June period on Wednesday, August 2. Analysts expect Titan — whose popular brands include Fastrack, Sonata, Octane, Tanishq, CaratLane, Zoya and EyePlus — to report a strong quarterly performance driven by robust demand and steady margins across segments.
According to Zee Business research, Titan is estimated to report a standalone net profit of Rs 873 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year, which translates to a year-on-year increase of 10.1 per cent. The analysts estimate its revenue for the three-month period to come in at Rs 10,753 crore as against Rs 8,961 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago. Read more

Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd on Tuesday crack in morning deals amid heavy selling pressure in the benchmark indices —Sensex and Nifty50, a day after the PSU power generator reported over a 5 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,597.16 crore due to increased finance costs. PowerGrid shares trade at Rs 255.85, down by Rs 10.2 or 3.83 per cent on NSE. The counter opened at Rs 262 and dropped as much as nearly 5 per cent to touch the day's low of Rs 253.75 from the previous close of Rs 266.05 on NSE. Read more

Maruti Suzuki announced its results after market close on Monday, recording a standalone PAT of Rs 2,485.1 crore in the April-June quarter. The automaker's revenue from operations also rose significantly at Rs 32,326.9 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year, according to a regulatory filing.
GAIL India
State-owned GAIL (India) Ltd on Monday reported a 51.5 per cent drop in June quarter net profit on weak earnings in the petrochemicals business as well as in the marketing of natural gas. The company recorded a standalone net profit of Rs 1,412 crore, or Rs 2.15 per share, in April-June compared to Rs 2,915.19 crore, or Rs 4.38 a share, in the same period a year back, according to a company statement.
