With another hike on Wednesday, petrol and diesel prices have crossed Rs 100-mark in all metro cities—Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited had increased prices of petrol and diesel at its all outlets in the National Capital by 35 paise and 17 paise respectively. Petrol is being sold for Rs 100 and above in nearly 15 states and districts now, while diesel has also crossed Rs 100 mark in Madhya Pradesh. On Sunday, Sikking too joined the states which are selling petrol above Rs 100. Besides Sikkim, petrol has crossed the Rs 100-a-litre mark in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab and Ladakh.

Meanwhile, Oil prices fell more than $1 a barrel on Wednesday in another seesaw trading session, as investors feared what this week's collapse in OPEC+ talks meant for worldwide production. Crude markets have been volatile over the last two days following the breakdown of discussions between major oil producers Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
"Brent crude settled at $73.43 a barrel, falling $1.10, or 1.5%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate settled at $72.20 a barrel, shedding $1.17 or 1.6%. Both benchmarks rallied more than $1 a barrel earlier in the session, similar to Tuesday's action," said Reuters
Fuel rates vary from state to state, depending on the incidence of local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges.
