Kendriya Bhandars begin selling flour or 'Bharat Atta' at Rs 29.50 per kg; NAFED, NFCC to start from 6 February
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution said that arrangements will be made to ensure "Bharat Atta" reaches the people through mobile vans as well.
Flour or ‘Bharat Atta’ will be sold at Rs 29.50 per kg at various government outlets or Kendriya Bhandar, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Foundation for Credit Counselling (NFCC) from February 6.
The decision has been taken in view of the rising prices of flour.
Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra reviewed the progress of Atta supply to consumers amid an inflationary trend in the food economy.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution said that arrangements will be made to reach the people through mobile vans as well. Moreover, the name and price will have to be written in bold on the packet.
Chopra, on Thursday, also reviewed the progress of the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) and met officials of FCI, Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED, and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF). In the meeting, It was decided that these institutions will lift wheat up to 3 LMT (lakh metric ton) from FCI depots and sell after converting it into Atta to consumers through various retail outlets, and mobile vans at Rs 29.50/kg.
All These institutions agreed to supply Atta at Rs 29.50 per kg as “Bharat Atta” or “any other suitable name” with bold mention of MRP of Rs. 29.50 per Kg.
Kendriya Bhandars have already started selling Atta at the mandated price from today. NCCF and NAFED will begin supply from 6 February 2023.
It was also decided that any Corporations/ Cooperatives/ Federations/Self Help Groups of State Governments/UTs may also get allocated wheat at Rs 23.50 per kg from the Government of India on the recommendation of the respective State Government/ UT for sale of Atta to consumers at Rs. 29.50 per kg.
