Final Trade: Stock market closed with green mark, Nifty above 15,800, Sensex gains 180 points

On Monday, the first trading day of the week, the 30-share Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 52,973 with a gain of 180 points, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange gained 81 points to close at 15,863. Nifty Smallcap and Nifty Midcap 100 indices jumped more than 1%. After good quarterly results, the shares of DMart, the company of veteran investor Radhakrishna Damani, rose 10% today. The stock closed at ₹ 3565 with a jump of 10%. In the March quarter, the company's net profit increased by about 3% year-on-year to 427 crores. Shares of Eicher Motors also jumped 8% today after good quarterly results.
