Final Trade: Nifty above 18,000, Sensex up over 1300 points, HDFC twins settle with more than 9% gains

After the news of HDFC merger, HDFC saw a big jump of 13 years in intra-day trading today. Nifty Bank closed at an 11-week high due to buying in bank shares. Meanwhile, there was good buying in midcap, smallcap stocks. The BSE Midcap index closed with a gain of 1.27 per cent and the Smallcap index gained 1.68 per cent. At the end of trading, the Sensex closed at 60,611.74 with a gain of 1335.05 points. On the other hand, Nifty closed at 18053.40 with a gain of 382.95 points.
