Union Budget 2025: Stock market to remain open on Budget Day
This will not be the first time that the Indian stock market will open for special trading sessions on Saturday.
Will the stock market remain open on Budget Day? Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth consecutive Budget on February 1, 2025 (Saturday). Despite Saturday, the stock market will remain open on Budget Day to ensure timely reactions to Budget announcements, NSE announced today, December 23.
"On account of the presentation of the Union Budget, Exchange shall be conducting live trading session on February 1, 2025," said the exchanges in a circular.
"Members are requested to note that “T0” session shall not be scheduled for trading on 01-Feb-2025 due to settlement holiday," said NSE.
While the equity markets will conduct a regular trading session until 3:30 PM, the commodity derivatives market will trade until 5 PM.
This will not be the first time that the NSE and BSE will open for special trading sessions on Saturday. On February 1, 2020, the normal trading period for budget releases took place on a Saturday. The market remained open on February 28, 2015 also, for the Union Budget.
